Everton have escaped relegation after beating Leicester City at King Power Stadium.

Vitaliy Mykolenko's impressive volley and header Mason Holgate gave Frank Lampard's team their third victory in five games and ensured they always controlled their future with four Premier League games to play.

Mykolenko finished off Alex Iwobi's ball well after six minutes but Patson Daka used Yerry Mina's header to try to get back from Jordan Pickford to draw Leicester's level five minutes later.

The unmarked Holgate reacted quickly after Kasper Schmeichel kept Richarlison's first header in the corner to regain the Toffees' lead 30 minutes later.

Forced to score another equalizer, Leicester dominated big times in the second half - but found England's Pickford in the lead.

After saving the season against Chelsea last Sunday, the Toffees goalkeeper produced some good stops to deny Nampalys Mendy and Harvey Barnes defending his leading team.

Everton moved up to 16th place with a win, one point above Burnley and Leeds United, who lost 2-1 to Arsenal to drop to 18th place.

The Toffees played just one game under their rivals.

At the time, the defeat extended Leicester's unbeaten Premier League run to five games and left Brendan Rodgers' side 14th in the table.
